SSS-GSIS Pensyonado Partylist supports roll out of GSIS ‘lite’ loans for members
The SSS-GSIS Pensyonado (SGP) Partylist is fully supportive of the Government Service Insurance System’s (GSIS) planned Multi-Purpose Loan Lite which the government insurer plans to roll out this October.
“We fully support the GSIS initiative. The ‘lite’ loan is essentially a diet version of the standard loan. Its borrowable amount ranges between P5,000 and P50,000, making it suitable for emergencies that require you to immediately pay relatively small amounts,” SSS-GSIS Pensyonado Partylist spokesperson Fercival Yutan said on Friday (July 19).
According to the GSIS press statement, the Multi-Purpose Loans will have payment terms of up to one (1) year. They process faster than standard loans and are immediately transferable to a member’s account.
GSIS President and General Manager Arnulfo Veloso said in a televised briefing that the GSIS is also developing several of its vacant properties for government housing in line with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr’s directive for the building of 6 million houses for low-income families by 2028.
The GSIS plans to build a set of 3 high-rise condominium buildings in Fairview, Quezon City and in Cogeo, Antipolo where the agency’s propeor
The GSIS-owned condominium buildings will provide 55-square meter residential units to eligible government workers and their families. The plans await approval before construction.
Additionally, GSIS has digitized nearly 99 percent of its services, including the Annual Physical Identification Revalidation (APIR).
APIR enables retirees to use their mobile phones to revalidate their pensions online. It removes the hassle of traveling to the nearest GSIS physical office and potentially waiting in line for long hours.
“You can take a selfie with your mobile phone and use the photo to help revalidate your GSIS pension. This technology enables sick and bedridden members to update and maintain their pension,” the SGP spokesperson said.
Furthermore, the GSIS has partnerships with PayMaya and other payment gateways. Members can pay their loans through their mobile phones.
