The SSS-GSIS Pensyonado (SGP) Partylist thanked the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) for extending its emergency loans to members and pensioners who were affected by Typhoon Enteng.
“The emergency loan is a huge help for GSIS members and pensioners whose lives and sources of livelihood were affected by the onslaught of Typhoon Enteng,” SGP spokesperson Val Yutan said on Thursday (September 5)
The GSIS will implement the emergency loan after identifying Enteng-affected areas with the deadlines for GSIS emergency loan application listed below:
- October 25, 2024 – Batangas, Rizal, and National Capital Region
- October 26, 2024 – Baco and Pinamalayan, Oriental Mindoro
- October 29, 2024 – Bulacan and Pampanga
- October 31, 2024 – Camiling, Tarlac
- November 1, 2024 – San Andres, Romblon and Mabitac, Laguna
- November 5, 2024 – Ilocos Norte and La Union
- November 13, 2024 – Ilocos Sur
- November 21, 2024 – Mangatarem, Pangasinan
GSIS members can apply for the loan if they have the following qualifications:
- Active members living or working in areas with state of calamity declared
- Not on unpaid leave
- No pending administrative or legal cases
- No due and demandable loan
- Completed a minimum of six monthly premium payments before application
The General Appropriations Act (GAA) set a minimum take-home net pay of P5,000 for members. Thus, the GSIS reminded old-age and disability pensioners to keep their net monthly pension at 25% or better after deducting the loan amortization.
If the member or pensioner already has an emergency loan, they may borrow up to P40,000 to settle those earlier loan balances. The highest net amount is P20,000.
Members and pensions without existing loan balances can apply for a P20,000 loan with an interest rate of 6% per year. They will have three years to repay the loan.
Qualified members and pensioners can apply for an emergency loan online through the GSIS Touch mobile app. They can also use the GSIS Wireless Automated Processing System (GWAPS) kiosk in the nearest GSIS branch or authorized partners, including major government offices, local government offices, and certain malls.
