During the filing of SSS-GSIS Pensyonado Partylist’s certificate of candidacy for the 2025 elections, Spokeperson Val Yutan was asked about the specifics of a potential pension increase for SSS and GSIS members. He addressed the widespread calls for an additional ₱1,000 or ₱2,000, emphasizing the importance of a balanced approach.
“Kailangan natin ng solusyong hindi magpapahirap sa pension institutions—dapat fiscally sound pero nararamdaman ng pensyonado,” Yutan explained, assuring that any proposed increase will be well-consulted and sustainable for both pensioners and institutions.
He also addressed the question of how SSS-GSIS Pensyonado Partylist plans to succeed where many others have failed in pushing for pension reforms. Yutan highlighted the extensive experience of the partylist’s nominees in SSS and GSIS, which gives them a unique understanding of what it takes to implement real change.
One of the nominees is former SSS CEO and President Rolando Macasaet, who also served as President and General Manager of GSIS. “Alam namin ang ins and outs ng GSIS at SSS,” Yutan said, emphasizing their commitment to thorough consultation and data analysis to succeed where previous efforts have failed.
Val Yutan emphasized a data-driven and fiscally sound approach in increasing monthly pensions, ensuring that any changes are sustainable for pensioners and institutions alike. “Hindi tayo magsusulong ng batas na hindi naaral at hindi economically responsive,” Yutan stressed, focusing on genuine benefits without risking the stability of pension funds.
