The SSS-GSIS Pensyonado (SGP) Partylist extended its heartfelt congratulations to the Social Security System (SSS) as the country’s pension institution celebrated its 67th anniversary in a year filled with accomplishments aimed at improving the benefits of its 2.2 million pensioners.
‘There is no doubt that the SSS grew leaps and bounds under its present leadership. The clear vision of SSS President and Chief Executive Officer Rolando Ledesma Macasaet for its more than 2 million pensioners was implemented through the various programs aimed at increasing the pensioners benefits and membership base of the pension fund,” said SGP Partylist spokesperson Fercival Yutan.
The month of September holds a special place in the SSS. Aside from celebrating the agency’s anniversary, September is also Social Security Month.
In addition to its anniversary celebration, the SSS also held the Balikat ng Bayan Awards to honor individuals and organizations that assisted the agency in bringing social security services to members and non-members.
SSS President and Chief Executive Officer (PCEO) Rolando Ledesma Macasaet described 2024 as a whirlwind where the SSS championed many programs to improve their services and reach more people.
“Many of you know the KaSSSangga and RACE programs. These programs were not my idea. These were ideas of our executives, but we pushed hard for them. We enhanced many systems and processes for the convenience and security of the members,” PCEO Macasaet recalled.
Other successful SSS programs included rebranding the Worker’s Investment and Savings Program (WISP) and WISP Plus into the MySSS Pension Booster Program.
“I am continually amazed and proud of how people, especially the poor and vulnerable ones, welcome the opportunity to become members of the SSS. I am very proud to say this is because of the work of the branch managers and executives. Previously, the membership of SSS was about one million a year. Today, we will get about four million new members,” PCEO Macasaet said.
Taking office in 2023, PCEO Macasaet described his tenure in the SSS during a highly dynamic period as a great honor and a privilege. He bid thanks to everyone he had worked with for enabling the agency’s accomplishments.
“I send my sincerest gratitude to the Social Security Commission for their wisdom and guidance; to the executives and officials who I put to task with my orders for faster, better, safer, and more services and programs. And of course, to the SSS employees who put these orders into action. Whether in the frontlines, back offices, or support units, thank you so much,” PCEO Macasaet said.
He also expressed how much the SSS appreciates the support and cooperation of its partners in extending and improving social security coverage. The Balikat ng Bayan Awards pays tribute to their contributions to the SSS’ work.
“With your help, it is our hope -in fact, our goal- that more and more Filipinos realize their dreams of financially secure lives for themselves and their children,” PCEO Macasaet concluded.
